The Office of Communities supports the development of vibrant, sustainable and inclusive communities across NSW.
The Office operates some of the State’s major urban stadia and events centres as well as having the principal sport and recreation policy and funding functions for NSW.
We manage major sport and entertainment facilities in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
By delivering services and working in partnership with other organisations to set policy, we make it easier for people to be involved in their communities, strengthen targeted local and regional communities, support Aboriginal people and communities to advance the well-being of Aboriginal people, support and promote the interests of children and young people, and harness the strong desire of people to improve and protect local neighbourhoods through volunteering.
The Office also protects children by screening employees working in child-related employment through the Working with Children Check, and regulating Out-of-Home Care services.
